An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) Adult Safeguarding Team as a Band 8a Named Nurse. This is a positive time for the Trust in developing and leading safeguarding and we are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join us. The position will lead on national legislative requirements including the Care Act (2014) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005), and the NHSE principles and duties of safeguarding adults.
The team offers a choice of bases across the Trust in Bognor Regis, Lancing, Hassocks and at Brighton General Hospital.
The post holder will report to the Head of Safeguarding and be part of a wider Safeguarding Team (adults and children). The SCFT Safeguarding Adults’ Team work within evidence-based practice to promote both the national and local safeguarding adults’ agenda, and to support staff Trust wide in safeguarding adults. This post will provide you with the opportunity to utilise your existing specialist knowledge and skills, as well as develop further expert knowledge and skills within this Named Nurse role.
The successful candidate will demonstrate their professional practice to evidence they are knowledgeable and skilled in adult safeguarding and show motivation, creativity and innovation, and be enthusiastic and able to work both independently and as a team. They will have excellent communication skills and be passionate about protecting adults from abuse or neglect.
The candidate will be flexible, hardworking, and demonstrate an ability to provide expert advice to support all staff in their statutory duty to safeguard adults in receipt of SCFT care. They will be responsible for a safeguarding adults’ team who offer complex safeguarding advice and support, and develop safeguarding training, across the Trust. This position covers the SCFT geographical area and there will be the need to travel across the Trust and to attend multi-professional meetings, and the option of a flexible working base will be available to the successful candidate.
