An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Service Director (Children's) to join our highly regarded and established Milton Keynes Community Health Services (MKCHS).
We provide a wide variety of community services to patients across Milton Keynes and parts of Buckinghamshire.
As Deputy Service Director (Children's), the successful candidate would work alongside the current Service Director and Deputy Service Director (Adults) in delivery of these services.
We are looking for an experienced candidate who is committed to delivering high quality patient care and who has significant experience of leading children's services at a senior level within a health setting.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will have managerial responsibility for the effective operational running of the Directorate and to ensure there is robust financial management in line with Directorate, Divisional and Trust targets.
1. The post holder will deputise for the Service Director in their absence or as delegated and will be expected to assume managerial responsibility and lead service developments for the Directorate as delegated by the Service Director.
2. As a deputy director the post holder will work with the Service Director to ensure that there is a clear strategic direction for the Directorate, which is integrated within the overall strategic direction for Directorate and the Division.
3. The post holder is a member of the Directorate Senior Management team and as such has a responsibility to participate in the management of the service and provide sound advice and guidance to the Service Director.
4. The post holder will be expected to assist with the implementation of service redesign and will be expected to identify new areas for business development and take the lead on the tender process.
5. The post holder will work with Service Managers and the wider health and social care economy to develop strategies in line with the National Agenda.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
1. To provide leadership and management across MKCHS.
2. To play a lead role in the planning and development of the Directorate in conjunction with the Service and Clinical Director.
3. To contribute to the establishment of new services and to lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies.
4. To take the lead on management of directorate wide services, as delegated by the Service Director.
5. To advance innovative ideas and strategies and provide vision and inspiration to enable staff to deliver care more effectively.
6. To be an active member of relevant strategic development groups.
7. To represent the Service Director at trust-wide forums.
8. To identify new business opportunities for the Directorate and take the lead on all tenders for new business.
As a senior manager the post holder must give assurance to the Service Director and Clinical Director of the following:
1. Effective performance management and professional and clinical leadership of the workforce in the Directorate.
2. Effective leadership and direction to the service managers in the boroughs where services are provided within the statutory framework.
3. Services are cost effective and delivered within budget.
4. Financial management is robust and in-line with Directorate, divisional and Trust targets including the assurance of a realistic Cost Improvement Programme.
5. Services meet care quality and performance management standards.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
1. UK Registered Health Professional.
2. Educated to Masters Level in a health or social care discipline or equivalent senior-level work experience in Children's services.
3. A recognised senior management qualification in leadership, policy, strategy, business management or other relevant field.
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Substantial years’ experience in recent operational management of children's community health services, at a senior management level, in a health or social care organisation.
2. Leading and managing staff groups or teams on various sites within a multi-disciplinary setting.
3. Budget management.
Desirable criteria
1. Embedding Quality Improvement within transformational developments.
