Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Assist with prescription co-ordination, documentation, assembly and dispensing of patient medicines and related products including clinical trials materials.
* Dispense Clinical Trials prescriptions.
* Participate in the monthly expiry date checking rota.
* Contribute to departmental meetings.
* Assist in the training of new staff rotating into the dispensary.
* Carry out general housekeeping duties (tidying, restocking consumables, filing prescriptions, etc.).
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Hold a General Pharmacy Council-recognised Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant qualification or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
* GCP training within the last 2 years.
Skills
Essential criteria
* Provide and receive routine factual information to inform work colleagues, patients/carers, requiring tact and persuasion where there may be barriers to understanding.
* Make judgments involving facts or situations, some requiring analysis independently and as a group.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of procedures for dispensary services.
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems.
* Relevant experience in Hospital Pharmacy Practice.
Desirable criteria
* Relevant experience in pharmacy clinical trials.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties. As such, this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
