About the role This role is based within our Strategic Infrastructure Team. Our new Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit has been set up to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects to help us deliver on our net zero ambitions and help the UK Government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030. Our aim is to help the UK switch to clean energy and make sure our electricity network is fit for the future; carrying more clean, secure energy from where it’s generated to where you need it. In this role you would play a crucial role in enabling us to do this. Joining a Higher Apprentice Programme at National Grid gives you the opportunity to be responsible for the successful planning and delivery of project work, with real responsibility from day one. By the end of your scheme, you’ll be supporting to make sure we build our projects to time, cost and quality. As an Assistant Project Manager Apprentice, you'll: Work in the Project Management Office (PMO) alongside colleagues in planning, estimating, risk, and reporting. Gain experience in various aspects of estimating, risk, and cost management, including participating in scheme teams and supporting project managers. Contribute to maintaining the Cost Book, analyzing tender submissions, and identifying project risks. Opportunity to be involved in project planning and program management of live projects, understanding their interactions and operational constraints. Location This role has multiple vacancies available based at our Leeds office. These vacancies offer flexible, hybrid working. About you You will need to have a GCSE in English Language AND in Math at Grade C or above (or equivalent) 2 A levels / A2: Grades A - C Or equivalent (BTEC National Certificate OR Diploma Level 3 at Grade Merit or Distinction) Must have or be working towards a full UK drivers license You don’t need prior work experience; the determination and will to succeed is far more important as we will teach you everything you need to know. The role will provide you with a variety of skills including transferrable skills to support your career development within National Grid. Due to the amount of travel to our site locations, you’ll be issued with a company car, this will be subject to BIK Tax as it is for both personal and business use. This means you will need to have a valid full UK Driving License by May 2025. If you already have a license, this will be verified at your assessment centre should you be successful.
