80135 - Quality Engineer This Quality Engineer will report to the Quality and Assurance Manager and will work within Governance, Risk, Compliance & Quality with UKPN Services based in our Chatham/South East office. You will be a permanent employee. JOB PURPOSE: You will provide competent quality management advice to promote compliance to ISO 9001: 2015 in the review, audit, certification, induction and management of procedures and processes in electrical infrastructure construction projects. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Provide Quality Management advice about ISO 9001: 2015 to other advisors, managers, employees, contractors and clients, both in the tendering and construction phases. Aim to maintain UK Power Networks Services' quality management system to ensure it can design, build, finance, operate and maintain primary electrical infrastructure for its clients. 2. Contribute to the review of existing and the development of new procedures/processes. Procedures include those from central UK Power Networks group and those which are UK Power Networks Services' project/contract specific. There will also be involvement in the communication, implementation and monitoring within the directorate; 3. Monitor compliance with ISO 9001: 2015, procedures, legal and moral obligations, and national, international and client standards. Plan project audits against agreed level 2, 3 and 4 schedules. Will undertake quality management system audits, produce audit reports and ensure findings are resolved promptly. 4. Assist and offer guidance to Project Managers in reviewing quality related project documents and requirements. Develop appropriate quality management system inductions, training and communication materials for the project team and subcontractors. Gather lessons learnt and maintains the project cost of poor quality process. Provide Project Managers with quality related updates for inclusion in monthly reports. Support any quality management system incident investigations. 5. Provide a monitoring function to ensure that suppliers, subcontractors and the services they provide exceed our quality management system expectations. This may include conducting external audits and undertaking random performance inspections of field teams to identify issues requiring improvement and highlighting good performance. 6. Monitor site certification of materials and equipment, including tool calibration, to ensure compliance with client and project requirements. To maintain associated project records to compile final data book documentation. 7. Facilitate third-party audits of UK Power Networks Services by external certification bodies. Champion quality management system processes in the business to ensure certification requirements are maintained. You will report to the Quality and Assurance Manager and be a member of the UK Power Networks Services Quality and Assurance team. You will visit UKPN Services and client offices and project sites. You will work with management across all directorates. You will have also represent us at operational/project level with external partners. SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Essential HNC (minimum requirement) qualification in a discipline such as Quality Management, Construction, Project Management or Technical/Engineering or equivalent. As a minimum be a Practitioner member of the Chartered Quality Institute with an aspiration to gain Chartered status, which we will support; Have quality management system experience gained in the construction industry (manufacturing based or other experience would not be suitable); Be a trained QMS Auditor/Internal QMS Auditor with experience in auditing to ISO 9001: 2015; Have experience of root cause analysis Attain several client access passes and licenses that may be required to work within UK industries such as airports, defence, nuclear, rail and underground rail; Hold a valid UK driving licence Desirable Flexible in your approach to work and be prioritise as directed by the Quality and Assurance Manager and Project Manager on assigned projects or contracts; Audit to ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018 requirements would be desirable; Knowledge of ISO 55001: 2014, ISO 44001: 2017, ISO 19650-1: 2018, ISO 19650-2: 2018, ISO 19650-3: 2020 and ISO 19650-5: 2020 would be advantageous; Be a team player and with other staff and clients within the business; Have excellent communication, presentation, planning and decision making skills at all seniority levels; Can work with IT software packages such as Microsoft office; Health & Safety Responsibilities Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations.
