A kind and patient personal assistant is required for a fit and active twelve-year-old boy with autism and ADHD, living in the Camborne area.
He experiences some anxiety around new people and places, so anyone supporting him will need to take the time to build a relationship.
The role involves helping him build social confidence and access new activities in the community, including pursuing individual interests and hobbies.
He loves being outdoors and is keen to try activities such as mountain biking, trampolining, and karate. When indoors, he enjoys gaming and is particularly a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Other goals include supporting him in developing life skills, such as going to the shops, using public transport, managing money, and understanding appropriate behaviour and conversation in social situations.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and gain greater independence while making a positive impact on his life.
The rate of pay is £13.00 per hour, plus mileage and expenses.
There are seven hours per week available, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate's availability.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
A driving licence and access to own transport is essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
