Operations Executive - Caseworker, Wakefield
We’re looking for an Operations Executive (or ‘caseworker’) to transform the lives of those in the prison system, by equipping participants with the tools to get into stable housing and employment after release.
What’s the role like?
You’ll be joining a team of values-driven and creative Operations Executives while being individually responsible for supporting a caseload of people in a single prison.
You will help create member inspired programmes, these programmes will be bespoke to individuals needs and requirements based on your meetings and assessments.
You'll shape, support and guide members, building concrete steps to achieve their goals pre and post release.
You’ll be
* At the frontline of our service - working onsite at a Prison, you will work closely with prison teams and members (offenders) over an 8-12 week training programme. Each programme will have between 10-15 people.
* Facilitating training workshops - you’ll provide the course material which will be varied and relevant, ranging from: Building Relationships, Helping People Achieve Goals, Housing and Employment, Application Processes and Interviews.
* Scheduling support - you’ll work closely with our central team to organise 1:1 sessions with Beam Caseworkers.
* Promoting and identifying people - helping spread the word on the course and its impact to attract suitable members and ensure a continual attendance for future groups.
* Monitoring and learning - you'll be constantly evaluating each programme and iterating on feedback, putting into action changes for future groups.
You are
* A passionate, people person - you’ll thoroughly enjoy speaking to people and building relationships. Members will always have their ups and downs but you’ll find a way to support them into starting their journey with Beam.
* An adaptable and engaging communicator - you are comfortable presenting to groups in person and communicating clearly and concisely.
* A team player who loves a challenge - you’ll be collaborating closely between prison staff, Beam team and the programme goals, ensuring all are on the same page at the same time.
* A confident multitasker - you’ll be supporting the facilitation of the training whilst promoting the courses internally.
* Emotionally mature and confident - you’ll need to set boundaries and be adept at composing yourself in difficult or sensitive scenarios.
You’ll need
* Strong communication skills - you’ll regularly be communicating with a diverse group of members as well as internal stakeholders and our government partners.
* Experience - ideally delivering in a prison or understanding of the justice system, this might be through supporting someone in prison.
* To be based onsite at the Prison 4 days per week with occasional trips to London Beam HQ, London.
* The ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.
* Strong communication skills with the confidence to present to groups, with a supportive and considered approach.
* Problem-solving skills that apply to both running courses and attracting members to the programme; no one day will throw the same challenges, you roll with this and thrive on solving challenging problems.
