Apprentice Research & Development Technician
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Apprentice Research & Development Technician to join our Test & Validation team. You will play a critical role in the development and improvement of all our Race and Road products. Your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, attention to detail, and technical mindset will contribute to the success of our R&D initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the testing and validation team to execute and support all stages of the product development and testing process, following methodologies and tools defined by AP Racing.
* Conduct product testing, including functionality, performance, and durability, to ensure that products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
* Develop benches and test set-ups and identify areas for improvement.
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of product specifications, testing procedures, and related standards.
* Ensure submission of detailed engineering reports.
* Participate in cross-functional team meetings to provide technical insights, recommendations, and solutions for product development challenges.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to product development to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
* Propose creative and innovative solutions to increase product efficiency and reduce costs.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Entry Requirements
We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science, and two other subjects.
Training to be Provided
* Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence).
Things to Consider
Work inside R&D Centre, with test machinery that involves using lubricants and oils, so work wear will be provided. Based on the equipment to be used, PPE and relevant training will also be provided. The first year of the apprenticeship will be delivered at MGTS technical centre in Coventry.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, an individual assessment will be carried out to determine if a full-time position will be offered. AP Racing aims to support future prospects for Research & Development Technicians with opportunities to sponsor further education in this field.
