About the Role As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that develop students’ appreciation of English literature, language and effective communication. You will inspire students to become confident readers, articulate speakers and critical thinkers, preparing them for academic success and future opportunities. Responsibilities of the English Teacher: Develop engaging and curriculum-aligned lessons in language, literature and communication skills. Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking skills effectively. Inspire students to analyse texts, think creatively and express their ideas confidently. Evaluate and monitor student performance through assignments, tests and feedback. Introduce students to diverse literary works, encouraging an appreciation for reading. Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students with varying abilities and learning styles. Maintain a positive, organised and respectful learning environment. Help students develop clear and effective verbal and written communication skills. Work with fellow teachers to develop and refine the English curriculum. Pursue professional development opportunities to implement innovative teaching methods. Requirements of the English Teacher: A qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent certification in English or a related field. Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably including GCSE and A-Level. Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and best practices in English teaching. Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and challenge students. A creative and adaptable approach to lesson planning and delivery. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and staff. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
