Ocean Freight Coordinator - Guildford - Up to £40,000
Our client, a UK-based logistics company, is looking for a Logistics Coordinator who specializes in ocean and air freight to join their team in Guildford, UK.
As Logistics Coordinator, you will be managing and coordinating the transportation of goods via airfreight and ocean freight, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with regulations, and efficient customs clearance.
You will liaise with clients, carriers, and customs authorities to facilitate smooth import and export processes.

Hours: Monday to Friday - 09:00am to 17:00pm
Salary: Up to £40,000
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate Import and Export Operations: Manage the end-to-end import and export processes, including booking cargo space, arranging pickups, and coordinating delivery schedules.
2. Prepare and submit customer quotations: Receive customer quotations via varying methods - email / online portal. Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed time frame. Track success/failure rate of quotes, reporting back to management.
3. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment status, resolving issues, and addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally. Build and develop strong relationships with customers.
4. Liaise with airlines, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers to negotiate rates, track shipments, and resolve any transportation-related issues.
5. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with airfreight / ocean freight shipments, such as delays, damages, or customs disputes, by implementing appropriate measures and contingency plans.
6. Optimize transportation costs by evaluating shipping routes, carrier options, and service levels to achieve the most cost-effective solutions for clients while maintaining service quality.
7. Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings within the airfreight import/export operations, and implement best practices accordingly.
Requirements:
1. Industry and operational knowledge of ocean import, export, and cross-trade.
2. Pricing / quotation experience.
3. Managing of suppliers.
4. Customer service export and cross-trade experience.
5. Dangerous goods certification (Desired).
6. Descartes customs system experience.
7. Customs clearance knowledge.
