The role Substantial, continued investment is contributing to Ashtons success and growth, with our Lettings Department a significant component of this. We are recruiting for a Senior Lettings Associate & Valuer to join our award-winning team in Welwyn Garden City to continue to drive this momentum forward. The successful candidate will be very proactive, accomplished at winning new business and negotiating lettings contracts, have a good background of managing and mentoring staff and a drive to win market share and create opportunities. With separate Administration, Property Management and Accounts departments, the primary focus will be on building market share in a competitive environment, without the paperwork and administration 'negatives’ sometimes attributed to lettings. Most of the day will be spent speaking over the phone or face-to-face with potential Landlords, current Landlords and Tenants, therefore strong interpersonal skills are required to create meaningful client relationships. We expect drive, energy and ambition to generate new business in a very competitive environment, which will include Prospecting on a daily basis. The ability to provide accurate market appraisal advice and turn initial enquiries into actual business are also pre-requisites of this role. Applicant’s Skill Set You will have a strong background of working in a busy and competitive lettings environment ideally with more than 5 years’ experience and a proven track record of success in negotiating lettings contracts. Alternatively, you might be in sales at present and looking to move in to a faster paced environment where you can list as well as let property. You will be looking to develop your career with a first-class estate agency, be comfortable dealing with properties up to £5000 per calendar month and communicating with intelligent individuals, professional and corporate clients. You will ideally possess an ARLA Qualification or be working towards this at present. You will be capable in negotiating relocation agent and PLC’s letting contracts. To act compliantly, a full understanding of the Housing Act is required. You will need to be able to work under pressure, whilst remaining organised, focused and accessible. An engaging and charismatic personality is essential, as is the commitment to provide exceptional service at every opportunity. A natural display of passion and commercial awareness for winning business is essential for this role.
