Position – Nursery Cook
Salary banding - £11.44 - £12.50 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Hours – Part time/Perm/Tuesday, Thursday and Friday/15 hours
Location - Bexleyheath
Little Dolphins Day Nursery Ltd is an established private day nursery situated in Bexleyheath. We offer high standards of care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We have an engaging environment for the children in our care, providing fun and stimulating activities and opportunities for individuality in both our indoor and outdoor environments.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment adhering to internal and external requirements.
2. Encourage and model behaviour which is appropriate in a child environment being professional at all times.
3. Ensure compliance with legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health & hygiene and complete necessary paperwork.
4. Prepare and cook age-appropriate food for all the children daily with minimum wastage.
5. Take responsibility to ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the team.
6. Respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality, being aware of personal information regarding children.
7. Support, promote and implement policies and procedures.
8. Fulfil roles, responsibilities, and legislative duties in relation to safeguarding children by ensuring understanding and implementation of the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
9. Complete Child Protection training every two years as set out in the Child Protection Policy and apply this training to safeguard children.
10. Work in cooperation and partnership with the nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.
11. Use nominated suppliers and ensure all deliveries are accurate and paperwork is up to date.
12. Take reasonable care of yourself and others and comply with company Health and Safety guidelines.
13. Support the manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome.
14. Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play.
15. Manage stocks and record stock levels in line with company expectations.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in any role involving cooking in domestic or commercial property.
2. Food Safety Level 2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post.
3. Good knowledge of COSHH.
4. Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies.
5. Understanding of the EHO process.
