We are recruiting for a Clinical Trial Pharmacy Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The role is ideal for newly qualified accuracy checking technicians who want to work in a busy and dynamic hospital pharmacy. Applicants with a retail pharmacy background are welcome to apply for this post as on-the-job training will be provided for all aspects of the role. Any newly qualified technicians without an Accuracy Checking qualification will be considered for this post, and a Band 4 to Band 5 developmental plan will be offered.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities within the pharmacy clinical trials department at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Pharmacy such as general dispensing, clinical trial setup, patient counselling, and associated pharmaceutical duties.
You will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,314 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for the processing of clinical trial chemocare prescriptions and to supply trial drugs on a timely basis.
2. To be responsible for the ordering and receiving of clinical trials supplies, keeping and maintaining records as required by GCP.
3. To ensure the correct storage of all clinical trial products in areas designated and labelled for clinical trial drug storage.
4. To be responsible for the accurate maintenance of records for clinical trial drug dispensing.
5. To ensure that where required, all clinical trial drug returns are appropriately recorded and stored.
6. To attend clinical trial initiation visits and support drug company CRA / monitoring visits.
7. To assist in the writing of standard dispensing procedures for each clinical trial requiring dispensing of clinical trial drugs.
8. To produce clinical trial drug labels as needed for specific studies.
9. To be responsible for the timely invoicing of pharmaceutical companies for monies owed for trials.
10. To co-ordinate the accurate filing of trial related correspondence, ensuring actions are taken if required (in liaison with the clinical trials pharmacists).
11. To plan and prioritise own and department workload in relation to clinical trials.
12. To participate in methods of monitoring the quality of the provision of pharmaceutical services for clinical trials, especially through practice audit.
