Position Overview:
As a Cookery & DT Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire students in practical skills and creativity. You will encourage students to develop skills in cooking, nutrition, and design technology(art related), helping them to build confidence and explore their creativity in a safe, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver lessons in cookery, nutrition, and design technology for KS3 and KS4.
Teach students safe and effective techniques in both food preparation and design projects.
Organize practical sessions, ensuring all resources and equipment are prepared and maintained.
Encourage creativity and critical thinking, helping students to develop confidence and life skills.
Maintain a safe and hygienic environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the design and cookery curriculum.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
Experience teaching food technology, cookery, or design technology.
Knowledge of food hygiene standards and safe classroom practices.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, hands-on learning.
Passion for helping students develop practical life skills and creativity.
