A subsidiary of a large defence contractor is seeking a couple of HGV Mechanics to ensure heavy equipment and vehicles are inspected, serviced and maintained. The HGV Mechanic will need to be level 3 qualified in vehicle mechanics, have previous experience in HGV engineering, and worked in a military environment. The HGV Mechanic must be eligible to become a sponsored reservist. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular inspections, servicing, and maintenance of HGVs to ensure they are roadworthy, including oil changes, brake checks, and tire replacements Use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, exhausts, and other critical components of HGVs. Identify faults and damage using computerized diagnostic equipment, visual inspections, and test drives Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with health and safety regulations, as well as manufacturer specifications and legal standards Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used, repairs made, and time spent on each vehicle Keep workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic machines in good working order, performing routine checks and maintenance Knowledge, skills and qualifications: Essential: Minimum C&G level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Engineering or similar Is experienced in HGV mechanic engineering Flexibility to travel (uplift in salary) Will need to be eligible to become a sponsored reservist Salary: £47,000 starting but rises to £52k as a Reservist overtime
