Due to the expansion of our Critical Care Units, an exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced and enthusiastic critical care nurses to join our team at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
Manchester Royal Infirmary is part of a leading integrated health, teaching, research, and innovation campus in the thriving city of Manchester. Our Critical Care Service was rated as outstanding by the CQC. We offer a unique range of services to the local and national population, treating and managing both simple and complex conditions and diseases.
Our Critical Care Unit includes a 20-bed General Adult Intensive Care Unit, a 20-bed High Dependency Unit, a 5-bed High Care Unit, and 4 Obstetric High Care Beds, along with a new 18-bed Elective HDU. We are looking for flexible candidates willing to work on a rotational programme within the Critical Care Unit.
To succeed, you must have substantial experience in an intensive care environment and hold a mentorship qualification, as well as evidence of completing a relevant critical care course. You will need excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the critical care MDT and the wider teams across Manchester Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for ensuring immediate care to the relevant client group and will work primarily within Critical Care. The post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for these patients, supporting and guiding junior staff in the process. They will provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area. The post holder will assist the senior Sister/Charge Nurses in ensuring that high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained. The post holder will act as a positive role model within the department for staff, patients, and carers. They will also deputise for the senior sister as required.
The post holder will enable nurses to acquire clinical and professional competencies by facilitating high-quality education and staff development opportunities.
Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process to achieve the knowledge and skills required for the role.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of CPD in relevant specialty (ENB 100 or equivalent)
* Evidence of degree level study
* Mentorship qualification/Practice Supervisor and Assessor Course
Experience
* Significant experience in a critical care unit
* Evidence of professional leadership
* Evidence of collaborative working across multiprofessional teams
* Experience of clinical audit
