Offer Description
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire
The University of Surrey, in partnership with Waters, has an exciting opportunity for a research scientist on a fixed-term contract (maternity cover, up to 12 months) to deliver a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project.
Waters is the world's leading specialty measurement company focused on the application of high-resolution, analytical technologies to support its vision of developing innovative solutions aimed at improving human health and longevity.
You will be responsible for leading and managing the ongoing KTP project, conducting research aimed at applying and validating a new OMICS workflow combined with mass-spectrometry (MS) molecular imaging technology for biomedical applications using prostate cancer as a model system and facilitating its implementation in clinical settings. This position, at the nexus of industry and academia, in the fields of tumour metabolism and immunology, will be based at Waters UK research headquarters, in Wilmslow, Cheshire, and in collaboration with Professor Clare Mills and Dr. Matt Spick at the University of Surrey.
We are looking for you to ideally have a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Immunology, or a related subject along with a basic understanding or experience of project management. Key to the role is experience of technical documentation, reporting, and presentations, as well as data processing and analysis. The post holder is expected to have previous experience of mass spectrometry and data acquisition from biological samples together with management and analysis of Multi’OMIC and high-dimension datasets.
Please be aware that, as part of the KTP programme, your application will be viewed by members of the host organization, the Business Partner. By submitting your application, you are giving consent to share your personal details with the company partner outlined above.
