Salary Scale SCP: 18 to 28 (£30,559 to £37,938 pro-rata)

Somerton Town Council is a forward thinking-council, at the centre of a thriving community,
and has a vacancy for a newly created position of Finance Officer. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with energy and the confidence to monitor the financial affairs of the Council throughout the year, maintain accurate electronic records of the Council’s finances and to manage cash flow.
Working under the direction of the Town Clerk, you will be responsible for the daily finance process, providing financial information for Council meetings, and the day-to-day management of the Council’s finances including updating the website for full transparency of finances to the community.
Areas of day-to-day responsibility include, sales ledger, purchase ledger, management of bank accounts, budgets, reconciliations, monthly reporting and ad hoc financial reporting.
