We are seeking an experienced all-round marketer to join our team at our independent, commercial art gallery in Newcastle. Your job will be to deliver a variety of marketing activities to communicate our exhibitions and events, to entice art-buyers to our gallery and e-commerce website. The role involves every aspect of marketing, including social media, website, print, and paid advertising.
Your abilities:
You'll have broad experience across the marketing mix, both on and offline. We know this can mean a lot, and different things in different businesses, so the following abilities are highest on our ideal candidate’s CV:
* content creation for web and social (including DSLR photography and videography would be a benefit),
* copywriting for different platforms including; website (blog pages and product pages) newsletters, social and advert/editorial (understanding of SEO a benefit),
* graphic design ability (Adobe is great, if you know your way around Canva that’s fine)
* product photography
* Shopify/wordpress/woocommerce website CMS experience (or similar)
Ideally you’ll be:
Confident, self-motivated, organised and with attention to detail. You'll need to be able to:
* be aware of exhibitions, collections and events within the gallery as well as opportunities to cross-promote with other departments (cafe and event venue) and external partners.
* work with colleagues, artists and collaborators to seek and gather content that will interest and appeal to our varied audiences
* plan and execute marketing campaigns with the support and guidance of the strategy & comms manager
* be able to focus on repetitive tasks when required, especially when uploading collections to our ecommerce site
* be able to prioritise a varied workload to accommodate deadlines and balance business priorities
* have a commercially-minded approach
* be able to maintain brand consistency across digital and print
* be able to follow processes, maintain and organise an asset library including photography, videography, graphics and written content
With the following experience:
* Ideally you'll have two years experience in a formal, varied marketing role
* you're used to using your initiative and solving problems
* you've worked in a creative or cultural business, or have a personal passion for the sector
* you’ve had to contribute to marketing activities with a commercial objective (ie: you have to contribute to revenue generation)
Your working hours, wage & environment:
Hours 32 hours p/w
Salary £24300 p/a (£27000 pro rata)
This role is currently 32 hours a week. We are a seven day a week business, so flexibility over working days is possible, working no less than x4 days and with typical office/opening hours observed.
Some weekend and evening work will be occasionally required. For example; exhibition launches, late night/seasonal shopping events, and artist events, all which are usually diaried well in advance. You will have flexibility to alter your schedule to accommodate specific dates or events, or TOIL will be accrued.
You’ll be based on-site at the gallery, which is located in Shieldfield/Ouseburn, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. You’ll work day-to-day alongside the Events Marketing Co-ordinator and the Strategy and Communications Manager to whom you’ll report.
