Finance Manager
Location: Remote working (must be in the office one day per month in Welwyn, and optional for one day a week in the office if you choose to)
Job Type: Full-time Temp - Perm
Salary: £18 - £20ph
My client is seeking a Finance Manager to support the effective and smooth running of their Trust. This role is integral to ensuring the financial health and longevity of their schools. As a member of the Central Team, the Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in financial management and strategic planning, providing high-quality accounting services and promoting best financial practices.
Day-to-day of the role:
1. Maintain awareness of the financial landscape for education and its implications for the Trust.
2. Provide bookkeeping and management accounting services to the schools within the Trust.
3. Produce monthly management accounts for the Chief Finance Officer, Headteachers, and Academy Governing Boards.
4. Undertake accurate accounting, monitoring, and forecasting to facilitate effective financial decision-making.
5. Support academy finance leads with accounting/system queries and provide guidance.
6. Collaborate with the Chief Finance Officer to address finance-related knowledge gaps across the Trust schools.
7. Assist in the annual budget setting process, offering support and challenge as needed.
8. Prepare for the annual external audit of the statutory consolidated accounts.
9. Stay informed about funding and legislative changes in the education sector, offering strategic financial insight.
10. Ensure adherence to financial procedures, controls, and policies.
11. Visit schools within the Trust regularly to deliver accounting services and develop a good working knowledge of those schools.
12. Contribute to Trust policy, planning, and the development of systems, policies, and initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in financial management within the education sector.
2. Strong understanding of bookkeeping and management accounting practices.
3. Ability to produce high-quality monthly management accounts.
4. Knowledge of financial procedures, controls, and policies.
