The project:
Birmingham Curzon Street railway station is the planned northern terminus of High Speed 2 on the fringe of Birmingham city centre, England. Birmingham Curzon Street Station, which will be net zero carbon in operation, will be the first brand new intercity terminus station built in Britain since the 19th Century. The new railway will connect Birmingham to London Euston via Birmingham Interchange and Old Oak Common. Curzon Street will have seven terminal platforms and is due for completion in 2028.

The construction manager is responsible for the overall running of the construction site and supporting the project management. They are responsible for planning, coordination, and control of all site works delegated to them and supporting and reporting to the project manager in all the elements related to the construction, programme of works, and commercial issues of the works.
The construction manager ensures that HS2's requirements regarding the functionality and standards are met, ensuring that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner. The construction manager is also responsible for supporting the construction team with the technical and engineering aspects of the works, in particular method statements, ITPs, construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
The role includes the development of an appropriate knowledge and compliance with the construction management plan, other management plans, MDJV processes and procedures, and the relevant works information.
You'll be responsible for:
* Supporting the preconstruction and construction teams in all aspects of construction delivery associated with your allocated package or area.
* Management of subcontractors associated with your allocated package.
* Managing and leading health and safety standards on site.
* Liaising with design management team to resolve buildability issues.
* Delivering work packages in line with programme constraints, quality standards, and budgets.
* Management of client inspections and sign-off of work elements.
* Chairing regular safety, production, and quality meetings.
* Maintaining high-quality records.
* Establishing records: checklist and registers for the equipment and plant on site. Keep accurate records for excavations, reduce dig, concrete pours, reinforcement, etc.
* Checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification. To include adequate checks on subcontractor materials.
* Ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
* Supporting the site personnel during the execution of the works; and
* Ensuring that the area is clear once works are completed.
* Producing and maintaining a daily record of progress of all construction activities on site (including personnel attendances, equipment problems, safety issues, and improvements).
* Ensuring compliance with requirements outlined in the construction management plan and relevant WIs.
* Management and coordination of subcontractor's works and associated documentation, ensuring effective use of materials and control of waste.
* The role will include an overlap with the early planning and design phases and the delivery phase.
* Ensuring that HS2's standards are met and ensuring that works on site are delivered to the standards required by HS2 and the utility companies who will eventually adopt the assets.
You'll need to have:
* Excellent communication (written and verbal), management and organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage the work time frames.
* A good working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations and other relevant legislation.
* The ability to write reports keeping accurate records of incidents, issues and labour and plant resources.
You'll also have:
* Construction site manager NVQ Level 4 (or similar)
* 5 years' experience in a similar role in construction sites and similar activities.
* Experience working on projects 150m+
* Demonstrable good managerial, motivational, planning, team building and leadership skills.
* Excellent track record of project delivery - safely, to timescale, quality and cost.
* Computer skills.
* SSSTS qualification.
* CSCS Card.
* First aid in the workplace qualification.
* Fire Marshal.
* Ability to work on site full-time in Birmingham.
