Community Engagement Insight Lead / Wellbeing Coach Co-ordinator
MAIN PURPOSE
Our Community Engagement and Insight Leads work to build community capacity to implement our service goals through resident and cross-community engagement that is participatory, inclusive, deliberative, and collaborative.
Key responsibilities are to co-ordinate the Wellbeing Coach Service in B&NES to assure the safe, effective delivery of the Wellbeing Coach and Emotional Wellbeing Coach services across all localities in B&NES. The post holder will work face to face in B&NES to develop and improve accessibility of the B&NES services through the pro-active promotion of referral pathways amongst primary and secondary care services, other key health care providers, allied professionals, community development initiatives, local agencies, and the general public.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Provide a leadership role in service planning, development, implementation, and co-ordination of the Everyone Health, Health Coaching model to work with those with more complex needs for a longer period of time to enable development of a personal health plan based on holistic assessment, self-generated goals, key milestones, ongoing support, and follow-up.
* Contribute to the planning, delivery, and development of the Wellbeing Coach & Emotional Wellbeing Coach Service including specific project work to support individuals to access appropriate quality assured interventions and digital tools to support a range of wellbeing needs e.g. via Better Health, Smoke Free App, ORCHA etc.
* Participate in all community networks of relevance developing trusted partnerships to promote the Wellness Service and support individuals to access services and activities which meet their social, cultural, creative, recreational, and employment needs.
* Produce marketing materials, social media content, and develop newsletters for service user engagement.
* Build, strengthen, and facilitate communication and partnership working between key stakeholders across the local landscape to implement the most efficient, effective, and contextually appropriate model of social prescribing - including referral to community wellbeing hub services where appropriate and linking individuals to wider community and peer support networks.
* Ensure that referrals are appropriate and liaise with referring services where this is not the case. Establish effective referral routes with health care professionals, social prescribers, and third sector organisations.
* Attend community events regularly, lead on social media for the Wellness Service.
* Lead on the annual Feel Good Festival.
* Lead on engagement for linking adults to the most effective interventions for their desired behaviour change.
* Strengthen partnerships in local healthcare systems, developing pathways into the service.
* Carry out prevention work within community settings in B&NES.
* Line manage Wellbeing Coaches within the team.
* Deliver Making Every Contact Count and Very Brief Advice training to organisations, raising awareness of the service and ensuring the service can reach the residents who might benefit from it.
* Work on specific development projects for the Wellness service supervised by the Service Manager.
* Improve public access to and availability of quality assured health and wellbeing services.
* Improve uptake of non-clinical community health and wellbeing services in Southend.
* Promote health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in a community setting, using non-clinical methods.
* Address barriers to engagement and enable people to play an active part in their care.
* Build on the local community assets in developing and delivering the service or activity.
* Support additional service needs such as NHS Health Checks (with Training) if required.
* Provide Service Manager with administrative and project management support for the Wellbeing Coach and Emotional Wellbeing Coach services and wider governance structure and system leads.

* Ability to organise, monitor, and check work to ensure no element of a task is left unfinished.
* Knowledge of maintaining records and monitoring systems.
* Ability to use generic software packages.
* Be confident in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
2. KNOWLEDGE
* Sound knowledge of challenges to achieving health improvement amongst vulnerable and deprived communities.
* Knowledge of IT systems to include the ability to use word processing skills, emails, and internet as well as marketing platforms such as Dot Digital.
* In-depth knowledge of local communities in B&NES.
* Sound knowledge of public health interventions.
* Knowledge and understanding of the Patient Confidentiality Act, Safeguarding, and the Data Protection Act.
* Sound knowledge of the application of behavioural change theoretical principles, to facilitate, motivate, and empower individuals/local communities to make substantive and sustainable behaviour change.
3. EXPERIENCE
* Experience of developing effective relationships with key stakeholders.
* Experience of providing health promoting initiatives/services in the local community.
* Experience of supervising staff.
* Experience of writing reports, procedures, policies, and health promotion communications for wide circulation.
* Experience of recruiting and developing new teams.
* Experience in working at events.
* Minimum of 1 year experience working in smoking cessation programmes across a range of service settings, including community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
* Experience of working with adults in a 1-2-1 and group environment, to support positive lifestyle change.
* Experience of using behaviour change models within a work context.
* Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting with patients of different cultures, genders, and ages.
* Experience of working to time schedules and deadlines.
4. QUALIFICATIONS
Essential: GCSE Maths and English to at least Grade C, or equivalent.
Desirable: 2 years experience working within local communities. Degree in health-related subject.

* Role incorporates evening/weekend working, with variable levels of travel across B&NES working in a variety of settings.
* Full UK Driving licence and access to a car for work- with ‘business purposes’ insurance.
* Evidence of a personal commitment to continuing professional development and to maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge supporting the development of business within the company.
* This post involves working with vulnerable adults and as such the post holder will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records at an enhanced level (DBS).
