Opportunity for Registered Building Inspectors, validated to either Class 2a, 2b or 3, having relevant Building Control experience and a thorough knowledge of building regulations and legislation. You will undertake a varied workload of plan assessments, site inspections, investigating reports of dangerous buildings and other related Building Control activities. You will be required to undertake site visits and complete site reports. Office presence with the flexibility to work at home where required.
All of our team of inspectors are currently validated and registered with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR). Our borough’s unique mix of domestic, commercial, industrial, and high-rise residential workload will allow you to build upon your current experience and progress to a higher class of validation (should you wish to pursue career advancement).
Registered Building Inspector (2a Domestic; 2b General; 3 Specialist)
We have a fantastic opportunity for Registered Building Inspectors, validated to either Class 2a, 2b or 3, having relevant Building Control experience and possessing a thorough knowledge of building regulations and legislation.
You will undertake a varied workload of plan assessments, site inspections, investigating reports of dangerous buildings and other related Building Control activities.
Duties:
Your duties as the Registered Building Inspector will include:
1. Manage a portfolio of construction development sites, including non-domestic low risk schemes (including new applications).
2. Providing accurate information, advice, and professional support to businesses and/or individuals, in accordance with the inspection framework.
3. Liaising and/or consulting external agencies, stakeholders, statutory undertakers and members of the public as necessary to ensure a seamless approach to the provision of guidance and service delivery.
4. Positively contribute to a strong, efficient, and effective performance culture with a focus on service excellence.
NB: The above list of duties is neither exclusive nor exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the responsibility level of this post, as directed by the section head or his/her representative.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Hold Registered Building Inspector status at either Class 2a (Domestic); 2b (General) or 3 (Specialist).
2. Preferably possessing a Professional Building Control Qualification (e.g. RICS, CABE).
3. Building Control experience with working knowledge of building regulations and legislation.
4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
5. Strong organisation and prioritising skills.
6. Strong focus for service excellence.
About You:
You will already have some considerable experience in Building Control, either in the public or private sector, and understand the main duties required of a Registered Building Inspector.
You will possess a comprehensive understanding of the key legislation related to Building Control, including the Building Act, the Building Safety Act, the Building Regulations, etc.
A willingness to work as part of a professional, forward-thinking team, who work together to carry out the objectives of the Building Control section.
As you will need to drive to different locations within the borough of Stockport to carry out your duties/ site inspections, you should hold a full UK driving licence.
Possess the IT skills necessary to deal with the electronic processing of plans and email communication with our stakeholders.
