At Teaching Personnel, we are looking for someone to join our partnership school which provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for students aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of additional learning needs, including autism, non-verbal autism, and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Role Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside dedicated teaching staff to provide tailored support to our students. You will play a crucial role in helping our students engage with their learning, develop new skills, and grow in their confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students in a range of classroom activities, helping them engage with the curriculum and work towards their individual learning goals.
Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of the students.
Assist with personal care and communication support, including non-verbal communication techniques where appropriate.
Work closely with the classroom teacher and other staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
Support students in both group and one-on-one settings to promote independence and social development.
Observe and report on student progress, contributing to regular assessments and reviews.
Provide emotional and behavioural support, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Skills and Qualities:
Experience working with children or young people with additional learning needs, especially autism and complex learning disabilities, is desirable but not essential.
A strong sense of empathy and patience, with a calm and supportive approach to managing challenging behaviours.
Ability to engage and motivate students, recognizing and celebrating their achievements, however small.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Confidence in supporting students who may have non-verbal communication methods and using alternative communication systems.
A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to working in a dynamic environment.
