Summary
You will support the Police and Crime Commissioner’s community engagement programme, involving you talking to local residents about their crime and safety concerns. Your work will provide essential support to the OPCC, assisting with administrative tasks, organising meetings and events, handling correspondence, and engaging with key stakeholders.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The Apprentice will assist with;
* General office tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
* Handle correspondence, including emails, letters, and phone calls, whilst maintaining accurate records in compliance with data protection regulations.
* Help to organise meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and booking venues.
* Ensure that materials are ready for key events and will assist in supporting public engagements and consultations.
* Liaise with Police representatives, local authorities and the public, helping with managing enquiries from these individuals.
* Support the Communications and Engagement Team to deliver the PCC’s community engagement programme. This will involve accompanying the Commissioner and other OPCC team members to meetings, helping with engagement stalls and supporting with events/conferences.

Course contents
* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
* Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
* Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way. Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.
* Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation. Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately. Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.

Your training plan
Your apprenticeship training will take place weekly in the training rooms at Middlesbrough Town Hall and will also include workshops and 1 to 1 coaching.

This exciting opportunity requires an outgoing and organised individual as the post whilst office based also invlves taking part in events speaking with the public and stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to go through the police vetting procedure.
