Full job description
Primary Responsibilities:
1. The provision of a local support service to all staff, resolving issues with IT systems and equipment.
2. Effective maintenance of all organisation IT infrastructure, including hardware, office systems, email, telephone, internet and clinical systems, minimising downtime.
3. Ensure back-up and disaster recovery procedures are in place and effective.
4. Perform regular system checks to maximise performance.
5. Provide training to all staff as required, ensuring the effective use of all systems.
6. Ensure staff adhere to practice policies regarding IT security and ensuring conformance to Information Governance.
7. Deliver the IT related elements of the staff induction programme.
8. Build, generate and carry out searches as required by the organisation team to enable reports to be produced and action plans devised.
9. Support the team in the effective use of searches, audits and recalls.
10. Act as a liaison between the organisation and external agencies, for the timely management of all faults.
11. Ensure that the organisation website information is correct and that the details are in accordance with the GP website benchmarking and improvement tool.
12. Configure searches and interpret data for audit purposes.
13. Send out mail merges for a number of campaigns, i.e., flu.
14. Ensure all staff have the appropriate smart card access to the clinical system.
15. Support the Executive Director with all elements of the online patient access software.
16. Ensure the Executive Director is updated regarding the release of patches and upgrades.
17. The configuration (activation and de-activation) of all staff email accounts.
18. Supporting the Executive Director in the writing of all IT related policies and protocols and user guides.
19. Support the GP Partner & Executive Director with QOF & IIF performance.
Secondary Responsibilities:
1. Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead.
2. Support the practice manager in the reviewing and updating of practice policies and procedures.
3. Support the practice and management team with continuous improvement and change initiatives.
4. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
5. Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
6. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
7. Liaise with the ICB and other external stakeholders in relation to IT matters.
8. Contribute to the development of the strategic objectives of the organisation, providing specialist IT knowledge.
