The role…
We are seeking a highly skilled BI Developer to help drive data driven decision making. The successful candidate will play a key role in automating our reporting processes, moving away from manual Excel reporting towards automated data insights through Power BI. This position requires a strong understanding of business requirements, data modelling, and project management to enhance our reporting capabilities.
What you'll be doing...
1. Understand Business Requirements: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business needs and requirements related to reporting.
2. Taxonomy Development and Management: Design, develop, and maintain data taxonomies to ensure consistent categorisation and organisation of business data. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine taxonomy structures that align with business needs and objectives.
3. Work alongside our Data Engineer: To ensure our complex datasets are optimised for reporting.
4. Build Reporting in Power BI: Create dynamic and insightful Power BI reports that facilitate data-driven decision-making.
5. Project Management: Manage reporting projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
6. Process Improvement: Work closely with business leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement in reporting and analytics.
7. Challenge Business Views: Provide critical insights and challenge existing business perceptions to enhance decision-making processes.
8. Business Partner with HR: Become a subject matter expert (SME) for reporting, offering previously undiscovered insights to GlobalData.
What we're looking for...
Experience:
1. Minimum of 5 of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related field.
2. Proven experience with Power BI is critical.
3. Background in design is desired.
4. Proficiency in SQL is desired.
5. Familiarity with Snowflake & dbt is desirable.
6. Experience in end-to-end report creation process, including requirement gathering, modelling and report creation.
Skills:
1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
4. Understanding of Kimball methodology.
5. Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
