Confident, professional Senior Technical Sales Engineer opportunity has become available for a large Engineering company based out of their Birmingham office.
Purpose of the role is to oversee customer accounts in the UK and overseas, prepare costings and proposals to support bidding work undertaken by the company. The role will also involve the provision of complex engineering solutions to customers, working as part of a busy sales team to tight deadlines, in time becoming an expert in specific products and accumulating expert knowledge in this area over time.
The right candidate will be responsible for maximising sales opportunities through effective liaison with customers and prospective customers, providing clear and coherent quotations along with all necessary supporting bid documentation. They will work to the company standards and within the company processes as laid out.
Increase the Company’s sales and profitability (gross margin) consistent with good business practice and the Company’s business objectives.
Achievement of an allocated annual sales budget and be required to report on that budget from time to time as required.
Main Responsibilities
1. Work in a logical and professional manner giving clear objective support to the Sales Manager and Site Director.
2. Provide key support in maintaining and expanding the sale of the Company’s Products into all sectors of the LNG, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial, Utilities and associated Industries.
3. Take ownership of key customer accounts in the UK and overseas.
4. Prepare quotes and major tenders including responsibility for creation and maintenance of a robust costing file in Microsoft Excel, ERP System or other systems as required. Receive sales enquiries and ensure onward transmission and quote as per the enquiry handling process.
5. Follow-up quotations with customers after submission and provide feedback as necessary to the business enabling effective forecasting of sales pipeline opportunities.
6. Review and interpret customer specifications, applying the relevant components to the project including piping specification and international standards as required.
7. Obtain customer feedback including quotation follow up, answering of technical questions, and attending bid clarification meetings where required.
8. Obtain materials prices and services as required.
9. Compile detailed technical and commercial documents required for the manufacture of Filtration systems and their sub-components.
10. Convert quotation to order, including producing commercial and technical order handover packs, manufacturing schedule & production reports at order placement.
11. Assist as requested other sales personnel and departments according to the needs of the business.
12. Support team members, across different departments.
13. Work in accordance with the Company’s standard operating procedures complying with our requirements to meet and exceed the international quality standard BS EN ISO 9001:2015.
The right candidate
1. Ideally come from a similar working background.
2. HNC/ Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
3. Understanding of CFD (ANSYS or equivalent).
4. Understanding of FEA Autodesk simulation Mechanical or other FEA software.
5. Hold solid proven sales experience.
6. Be happy with worldwide travel.
7. Strong relationship management skills.
