Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you aspire to work in Criminal Justice, Youth Justice, or Social Advocacy? This Learning Support Assistant role will provide the perfect foundation for a career in mental health, SEND education, and social care.
The Role:
1. Supporting students aged 11-18 who have low tolerance for stress and face significant emotional and behavioural challenges.
2. Building relationships - following a "Connect Before Content" approach, ensuring students feel safe before focusing on academic progress.
3. Assisting children in reintegrating into school and the wider community.
4. Using restorative practices to help improve behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement.
5. Working in small, specialist SEMH classrooms (4-12 students per class), where attendance is based on each child's emotional state and needs.
6. Managing challenging behaviour, including anti-social tendencies, within a fully supported training system.
7. Supporting students with a range of additional needs, including ADHD, ADD, Autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
What We're Looking For:
1. Graduates in Youth & Community Work, Psychology, Criminology, or related fields.
2. Non-graduates with a strong passion for advocacy and social care are also encouraged to apply.
3. A compassionate and patient approach with a genuine desire to help young people.
4. Strong resilience and the ability to adapt to challenging situations.
