We are looking for an experienced registered Occupational Therapist with a passion for delivering highly efficient and effective person-centred Occupational Therapy services, with a proven record of clinical leadership, operational management and service redesign/development to lead the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services in Aneurin Bevan UHB.

As part of the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Division Senior Management Team you will contribute to the governance, delivery and development of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services. Professionally you will work with the Divisional Head, Family & Therapies as deputies to the UHB Head of Occupational Therapy Services. You will also be required to work collaboratively with the senior leaders across the wider UHB and external organisations.

Job responsibilities
To provide leadership to the division-wide service in terms of financial, physical and human resources and is accountable for the provision of an operationally effective occupational therapy service that complies with all requirements of clinical governance. The post holder will identify the strategic direction of the service and will work collaboratively with senior managers in the division and the organisation to identify needs and agree priorities, establishing effective partnerships and networks for service development and delivery. This will be achieved in conjunction with the Head of ABUHB Occupational Therapy Services and senior OT leaders in the division responsible for implementing the necessary changes to improve patient care as part of a whole team multi-disciplinary approach to service delivery.
The post holder will maintain clinical expertise in occupational therapy and undertake clinical duties as appropriate to the needs of the service.
To be responsible for the line/professional management of all occupational therapy staff working within the mental health and learning disabilities division which includes recruitment, appraisal, conduct and performance. This includes adult and older adult mental health and learning disability services across the whole of Gwent.
To provide professional supervision and support to all the Professional Heads at Band 8a level and any other identified staff.
To be a core member of the senior management team for the mental health and learning disabilities division. Working with the Divisional & Clinical Director, the post holder will provide highly effective leadership to ensure evidenced-based service delivery, accessible assessment and intervention pathways and a culture of continuous improvement within the occupational therapy and wider service. They will be clinically accountable for the delivery of a highly effective patient-focused occupational therapy service. They will represent occupational therapy and the division at board meetings and health board forums across ABUHB and Wales as required.
To be a core member of the occupational therapy senior leadership group (SLG) and working collaboratively with the Head of ABUHB OT Services, the Family & Therapies Divisional Head Occupational therapist, OT Professional Heads (Band 8a) and the Team Lead OTs (Band 7) based in the inpatient and community teams across Gwent to implement, manage and lead the operational elements of the service to achieve divisional, health board and occupational therapy service objectives.
To ensure equitable provision of an occupational therapy service across all elements of the adult, older adult mental health and learning disability services within the available resources.
To ensure that the performance of the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Division Occupational Therapy service meets Welsh Government and Health Board objectives and targets. Working with and supported by the divisional senior management team and the Head of ABUHB OT services.
To have responsibility for a delegated budget for the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapy Service, promoting a clinically and cost-effective service.
The post holder will deputise for the Head of ABUHB Occupational Therapy Services as appropriate in professional arenas and networks both internal & external to the UHB.
To undertake any delegated roles in line with the role and as a member of the Divisions Senior Management Team.
Accountable for the provision of Occupational Therapy practice & delivery across the following services: Older adult in-patients service, Older adult community MH team, Older adult memory assessment service, Adult in-patients, Adult community mental health team, Adult forensic and rehabilitation pathway, PICU, Early intervention service, Perinatal service, Crisis resolution home treatment teams, Assertive outreach teams, Learning disability assessment and treatment unit, Learning disability specialist services, Learning disability community services.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
* Occupational Therapy degree or diploma
* Holds professional registration as awarded by the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
* Hold the equivalent of a full Masters (180 credits at CQFW level 7) in Occupational Therapy or leadership related learning or equivalent
* Successful completion of leadership and management training at level 5 or above e.g. ILM Certificate (Level 5) in Leadership and Management or relevant experience
* Successful completion of 'training + development' and/or 'coaching' related qualifications
