Salary: £43,029 - £51,216 / £23.58 - £28.07 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
The Maritime Studies Department at UHI Orkney invites applications from a suitably qualified and experienced professional to develop, coordinate and eventually deliver work-based learning for the Hydrogen sector both on land and marine.
The post is for a full-time appointment over six years, based in Orkney but supporting all UHI island-based partners. The postholder will engage with a variety of stakeholders and partners across the sector, around the islands of Scotland.
In Development, The Postholder Will Work On Two Levels
1. With industry Stakeholders and UHI partners to identify and help create new models of work-based learning, utilising existing programmes or helping to create new ones.
2. As a resource to UHI partners who have existing programmes or projects as required.
The postholder will help stakeholders identify appropriate levels of training required in their operation. Levels will be mapped to the SCQF framework. The postholder will help stakeholders identify appropriate duration for training in order to meet staff and operational needs. Training might be short in duration but high in level, for example. It might be training, or a longer course of education, tailored to the needs of the stakeholder and the wider sector. WBL education and training should aim to be transferable and reusable; however, the project recognises that it may develop bespoke training in certain circumstances.
The Postholder Will
* Have a proven track record of working, preferably hands-on, in the Hydrogen Industry.
* Be educated to an appropriate level in relation to their significant experience.
* Have experience of the management of safety protocols in hazardous, low flashpoint environments.
* Have wider knowledge/experience of the sector including renewables, low-carbon and/or zero-emissions technologies.
Have Experience In Training Others In a Workplace Environment
* Preferably have a background in engineering and/or control systems technologies.
* You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
