You will need the ability to present financial information effectively and provide relevant advice and guidance to Headteachers and Governing Bodies on various financial issues. What the Job Involves As a Finance / Accountancy Officer, you will support and assist the Principal Accountant in delivering a comprehensive range of financial services to schools. Key responsibilities include assisting with annual budget preparations, account closures at the end of the financial year, and the preparation of financial projections. You will regularly visit schools to discuss and provide advice on budgetary matters and address any administrative challenges. You will maintain the Financial Reporting System and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations while working effectively as part of a team. Skills Association of Accounting Technicians qualification or equivalent Knowledge of local government accounting and financial procedures Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Accountancy and numeracy skills Proficiency in English and Welsh (desirable) Ability to work independently and under pressure Strong IT skills, including spreadsheet and database management Ability to interpret regulations/guidelines and provide relevant advice Decision-making and project/resource affordability assessment
