The Role
Working within the Technical Claims Team and reporting to the Technical Claims Manager, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced, exciting environment with a high level of autonomy. Your role involves managing a portfolio of mostly escape of water claims. You will handle the first notification of loss, assess policy coverage, and allocate claims appropriately. You will retain a portfolio of your own claims, identifying damages, and agreeing on repairs and settlements. You must provide exceptional service to brokers and customers, being confident and resourceful in decision-making.
This is a hybrid role with two days in the office and three days remote, with flexibility for more office days if preferred. Attendance at Colchester or York office hubs is required.
What you’ll be doing
1. Delivering world-class customer service, respecting Hiscox Claims philosophy and values
2. Meeting/exceeding SLAs/targets
3. Performing comprehensive triage on escape of water claims to assign the correct resources
4. Liaising with customers for field visits
5. Creating action plans and managing claims through investigation, repairs, and settlement
6. Negotiating and settling claims promptly, controlling indemnity spend
7. Recording information clearly and planning next steps
8. Coordinating with contractors, surveyors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion
9. Handling enquiries, escalation triggers, and supporting investigations
10. Providing risk management advice to policyholders and underwriters
11. Supporting technical development within the team and working independently with initiative

* ACII/ACILA qualification or working towards it
* Disaster Management qualifications or progress towards
* Risk management knowledge
* Proficiency in Excel and Word
