Group Payroll Manager - West Midlands Purpose of the Role: The Group Payroll Manager leads a small team of 6 payroll specialists across several locations to deliver, monitor and develop the Stonegate Payroll service, ensuring compliance with government legislation and regulations. Running multiple payrolls across 5 different entities for 16,000 colleagues, the Group Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of colleague pay, benefits and deductions. The role requires driving process improvements and ensuring the highest standard of payroll service delivery. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensuring accurate calculation and payment of payroll for our managed house and support staff employees, across multiple PAYE references and across weekly, two-weekly, four-weekly and monthly frequencies. Manage our external payroll bureau ensuring SLA's are met but also look for any strategic opportunities to continue to evolve. Ensure creation and processing of statutory documents where applicable, including annual P11d's, P45's, P60's, etc. Drive and own key relationships with all stakeholders most notably those within the HR team. Never accept “that’s the way we have always done things”, drive an ethos of continuous improvement, how do we continue to develop as a team and add value to the output. Deliver excellent customer service, both internally and externally. Lead the payroll team, developing their skills and motivating them to achieve excellence. Ensure skills gaps are identified and addressed to ensure good succession. Ensure the business adheres to payroll-relevant legislation, via training, coaching, and presentations and keep up to date with changes. Manage multiple pension schemes and ensure pension governance compliance. Ensure the team deals effectively with queries from employees regarding their pay and benefits. Skills, Experience & Qualifications: Essential : Extensive, demonstrable experience running a payroll team; running multiple payrolls over several locations. Compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical, and social requirements. Excellent leadership, people, and communication (oral and written) skills. Numerate, thorough and accurate with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines and prioritise work. A positive and resilient approach and drive to deliver excellent customer service. Ability to self-motivate and inspire the team. Preference for experience of Fourth.
