About the team:
The West of England T&RSI's are a team of 10 Mobile Engineers, providing in service support to the all GWR fleet, they also provide support to our Engineering Depots. The team, alongside the Central T&RSI team, cover the whole of the GWR region – from Bristol to Penzance, Weymouth Gloucester, Cardiff and all areas in between.
About the job:
This for a full-time position working in the Western part of our region, predominantly covering areas like Exeter, Plymouth, Truro, Penzance and all other parts of the region.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* You will be working under the direction of the Maintenance Controllers.
* To provide customer support and incident management
* Carry out maintenance activities, (advanced fault finding, defect reporting and rectification)
* Provide incident management.
* Provide technical support to depot and Maintenance Control teams, mainly on The West Fleet core routes and at our maintenance facilities.
* Support Fleet Performance monitoring and improvement process.
You'll need to be:
* An enthusiastic, flexible and committed individual to join the existing team of Mobile Riding Inspectors,
* Able to display advanced fault finding, rectification and defect reporting skills - West DMU – 150 & 158, West Turbo - 166 & 165 knowledge is essential Plus some Castle (2+4) & Sleeper stock knowledge is desired.
* Flexible in your approach to turns of duty which will include working Early, Late, weekends & Bank Holidays in order to match train-service requirements and ensure the job is adequately covered.
* Able to demonstrate a calm and professional manner during times of operational difficulties.
* Have good communication skills and telephone manner.
* Able to retain a clear focus on important safety and performance criteria.
As a minimum you'll need to have:
* This is a Safety Critical Post, and you must be able to comply with the medical requirements for this role
* All applicants should be multi-skilled, apprentice trained or attained NVQ level 3, Possess appropriate certification as an electrician/fitter.
* Minimum of 3 years working in Engineering on a depot or equivalent location.
* A full clean driving license is required.
* PTS and DP are required, although training can be provided
Working Pattern:
The role is covered on a rotating shift pattern consisting of Early or Late Days. This will include weekend & Bank Holiday cover.
Additional Information:
The successful applicant will need to be a flexible and committed individual to join the existing team of Mobile Technicians, working under the direction of the Fleet Control Manager and Maintenance Controllers. The jobholder will provide customer support and incident management, mainly on The West Fleet core routes including maintenance activities, advanced fault finding / rectification and defect reporting on the West Fleet DMU's.
The successful applicant will also be computer literate, possess excellent communication skills, together with a flexible approach to turns of duty which will include weekends & Bank Holidays in order to match train-service requirements and ensure the job is adequately covered. The individual must be able to work on their own initiative, be able to coach others on advanced fault-finding techniques, maintain a calm and professional manner during times of operational difficulties, possessing a clear focus on important performance criteria. There will also be opportunities for advancement in the FGW engineering business.
