The Role:
Are you passionate about making a difference? Do you have a love for music, creativity, and helping others lead fulfilling lives? We have an exciting opportunity for a support workers to join our team on a part time basis to support one woman in her own home in Stowmarket.
We're here to support a woman in her 20s. She's got a real passion for music, loves a good night out, and can often be found strumming away on her guitar. With a liking for all things colourful and creative, she's known for crafting support workers out of unlikely materials!
What will I be doing?
- You can develop, with our support, motivating and enabling skills - for example, you can set challenging goals and can assist a person you support in making informed choices.
- You're willing to work with people who require additional support because of behaviours of distress.
- You're able to communicate clearly, adapting what you say and how you say it so that each person can understand you.
- You're able to work flexibly and to respond effectively to changes in workload and the needs of the people we support.
- You can develop positive working relationships with all those involved with Dimensions - including those we support, families, carers, internal colleagues, and external agencies.
- You can be open minded and have a flexible and adaptable attitude/personality.
- You will have an ability and willingness to understand and manage behaviours of distress and have a range of de-escalation techniques.
Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with autism, epilepsy and learning disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust.
- Compassionate and patient.
- Dedication to promoting independence.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including sleep-ins.
