Description Operations Manager - Tamworth, Staffordshire Ocado Logistics Shift: 48 hours per week, working 12 hour shifts any 4 from 7 nights including Days and Nights on a rotational basis. Salary: Competitive We are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Ocado’s customer fulfilment centre (CFC2) based in Dordon. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the main focus of the Operations Manager is to lead and inspire large teams of people across the inbound and outbound functions of our operation. Living and breathing our 5 Pillars; Safety, People, Customer, Delivery, Cost. Operations Managers provide motivation and drive excellence in all that we do. It is the responsibility of the Operations Managers to effectively plan and manage resources in line with budgets and business objectives and ensure we continue to delight our retail partners. Responsibilities will include: Full people management responsibility (with the support of the Human Resources and Ops Management team where necessary) and taking the lead in areas such as: Performance Management Employee Engagement Health and Safety Continuous Improvement and Customer Excellence Absence Management, Disciplinary and Grievance Training and Development Alongside this, you will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement within the operation and recommending these to senior management. As a manager, you will also need to be prepared to be hands-on within the operation, as well as having a flexible approach to shifts. What do we need from you? • You will need to be an experienced manager within a senior role, capable of managing large teams of people • You must have experience of working in a FMCG production, automated warehouse or distribution centre environment • Educated to a Degree calibre or with demonstrable experience within a similar FMCG role • You need to be able to clearly demonstrate your ability to engage and enthuse a diverse team in a time-constrained environment • You must possess excellent communication skills both verbally and written, with the ability to deliver direction and motivation in an effective manner • Ability to develop strong working relationships with other internal teams such as HR, Engineering and Resource Planning • Experience of working with retailers either directly or through 3PL • Analytical rationale and be data driven, with experience of implementing and meeting KPI targets In addition to the above, below are some desirable traits • Experience managing large groups of people on a shift rotation basis ( upwards of 300 people on shift) Experience managing managers – ( groups of 10 managers 2nd tier & 20 first tier ) • Experience in Customer facing businesses • Lean / Six Sigma Experience • Proven track record of coaching and developing workforce and warehouse processes You may also be asked to perform tasks as required by management deemed as a reasonable request.
