Ready to grow your career in a business where your ideas genuinely shape the future? This is a rare opportunity to join a small but ambitious consultancy on the cusp of expansion. Based in North Yorkshire, they’re making big waves in the renewable energy and sustainable building services sectors—offering tailored solutions that help the UK decarbonise. Whether you're an early-career designer with the right attitude or someone with industry experience looking to take on more responsibility, this is a role with room to grow. Expect a salary of up to £35,000, generous support for further training (including degree apprenticeships), and a dynamic, supportive environment where your development comes first. The successful Design Engineer will be responsible for: Supporting the end-to-end design of building services systems, including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection. Collaborating closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated and compliant designs. Assisting with detailed calculations, specifications, system layouts, and technical reports for new-builds and retrofit projects. Attending site visits to gather data and contribute to sustainability assessments and energy efficiency solutions. Getting involved in feasibility studies, commissioning processes, and technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle. Keeping up to date with the latest in BIM, building services innovations, and sustainability best practices. We’re looking for a Design Engineer who can bring: A background or keen interest in mechanical or building services engineering—whether that’s through industry experience, a degree, or vocational training. Familiarity with MCAD or BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar (but no need to tick every box). A proactive, enthusiastic mindset with the desire to learn, adapt, and develop within a growing team. Solid communication and teamworking skills, with a practical problem-solving approach to engineering design. A passion for sustainable engineering and an interest in renewables or decarbonisation would be a real bonus. You’ll be joining a close-knit, forward-thinking consultancy at a time of growth—with plans to scale their operations and invest in developing their team. There’s real scope to shape your future here, whether that’s through hands-on experience or formal development via degree apprenticeships and progression routes. Interested?
