About the home at Station Road:
Station Road is a large, detached, purpose-built property. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor and five bedrooms on the first floor. There is a modern kitchen, dining area, comfortable lounge, sensory room and a leafy garden. The location is close to the town centre which has shops and local amenities with easy access to public transport. There is parking at the front of the house.
We support eight women whose ages range from early thirties to late seventies. They have moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disabilities, epilepsy and mobility needs. They have a mix of verbal and non-verbal communications, including Makaton, eye gaze technology and iPads.
The residents enjoy each other’s company in their relaxed atmosphere. Their interests include music, dancing, theatre, bowling and swimming.
Your Role at Norwood:
As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with learning disabilities and autism to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Guiding and supporting individuals in their day-to-day activities.
2. Encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
3. Accompanying individuals to routine appointments.
4. Teaching essential life skills like budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.
5. Assisting with personal care and, if required, administering medication.
6. Contributing to household tasks such as cleaning and cooking.
Minimum Requirements:
• You must be female to apply for this role.
• Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, epilepsy and mobility needs.
• Understanding of non-verbal communication such as Makaton.
