Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with a security speciality to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in designing and implementing security solutions, as well as an in-depth understanding of security architecture principles. This role requires the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications, with a focus on delivering scalable, dependable, and secure solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, a strong passion for security, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver secure architecture solutions that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
The Solution Architect will work closely with the security team to define security standards, policies, and governance for the project, ensuring that all solutions meet the organisation’s security requirements. They will design and implement security architecture solutions that are scalable, reliable, and tailored to address business needs. The architect will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical specifications and security solutions, providing technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The role also includes the development and maintenance of security models, security flow diagrams, and integration workflows, ensuring adherence to security quality, governance, and best practices. The Solution Architect will evaluate and recommend security technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve security management processes and will collaborate closely with Security Engineers, Security Analysts, and other IT professionals to ensure successful implementation of security solutions.
Staying current with industry trends and best practices in security architecture and solution design will be a key part of the role, as will conducting performance tuning and optimisation of security solutions. The Solution Architect will also develop and deliver comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and user guides. Additionally, they will provide training and support to end-users and team members on security solutions and best practices.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. They must have proven experience as a Solution Architect, with a focus on security architecture and security solutions. A strong understanding of security frameworks, encryption technologies, and security protocols is essential, as is proficiency in security modelling, threat analysis, and security integration techniques.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and their security services, is necessary. The Solution Architect should also possess knowledge of security systems, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, as well as security analysis tools. A solid background in security governance, security quality, and adherence to security best practices is required. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary, as the architect will be required to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies would be highly advantageous, as would knowledge of security visualisation tools. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, as well as experience in industry-specific security solutions, particularly within the rail industry, is also beneficial.
