Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Shrewsbury
Salary: £90-£95 per day
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH provision in Shrewsbury, seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students facing emotional and behavioural challenges that affect their learning. These students may present with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, or oppositional behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them to engage with learning and school life.
2. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to follow Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other individualised learning strategies.
3. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that supports the social and emotional development of every student.
4. Build positive relationships and act as a consistent, supportive presence in students' school experience.
5. Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach in responding to day-to-day classroom challenges.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs, or a strong interest in working within the SEN/SEMH sector.
2. A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.
3. Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of diverse learning needs.
4. The ability to follow and implement EHCPs or tailored educational strategies.
5. A resilient, adaptable, and professional attitude.
