Job Description
Are you ready to make your mark as a Senior Quantity Surveyor? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic and growing team, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a proven track record in managing contracts, valuations, and financial reporting within the civil engineering sector, with the added benefit of medium-term progression for the right candidate.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Advise and assist project management and site teams on contractual requirements and issues
2. Manage and assist with contract communications
3. Attend internal and external progress and commercial meetings
4. Prepare valuations, monthly payment applications, and invoices for company projects
5. Value contract variations and Compensation Events (CEs)
6. Assist Cost Controllers with monthly financial reporting
7. Support the Contract Manager with claims and liaise with external legal advisers
8. Manage sub-contract enquiries, evaluations, and the drafting of sub-contracts
9. Oversee sub-contract management, including variations/CEs, measurement, and payment certification
10. Assist with tender assessments and provide advice to estimating teams
11. Provide support with UK insurance matters and liaise with the Head Office Insurance Department
What We’re Looking For:
1. At least 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor
2. Degree in Quantity Surveying and/or RICS qualification (but not essential)
3. Background in civil engineering (marine civil engineering experience is not essential)
4. Strong knowledge of civil engineering contracts, particularly the NEC suite of contracts
5. Excellent communication and written skills
6. Ability to integrate into a diverse, multi-team
7. Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
8. Full UK driving licence

Additional Information:
You will primarily work within the Dredging business unit, focusing on projects such as capital and maintenance dredging, port developments, land reclamation, coastal protection schemes, and occasional joint ventures. The role will be based in Hampshire, with occasional travel within the UK and Ireland, as well as potential site visits. Full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
