Job overview
The Chef is responsible for elements of cooking and cleaning within the kitchen and pot wash area, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, special patient diets, general cleanliness, and hygiene.
The Chef will play an active part in the service delivery of all aspects of kitchen catering services for both retail units by supporting and assisting the Kitchen Supervisor as directed, as well as within Patient Services and dietetics to enhance the Customer & Patient Mealtime experience.
Main duties of the job
Part-Time Chef (Band 3)
We are recruiting for a Part-time Chef, 2 days per week to join our busy Retail Team in the Oasis Restaurant to provide the following:
* Ensuring food delivered and received meet with the Department’s policy on standards and quality, by undertaking physical checks and temperature probing of all appropriate foodstuffs.
* Check meals for quality, texture, taste and appearance, notifying and correcting problems as appropriate.
* Must be capable of taking key decisions in the absence of the Retail Supervisor, in line with dept. procedures.
* Check fridges/freezers and stores area daily and utilize short life items promptly and in accordance with dept policy.
* To follow recipes accurately, ensuring the correct number of portions produced.
* To ensure that issues coincide with requisitions, reporting any shortfalls to line manager.
* To ensure sufficient provisions are ordered to meet the needs of the menu.
* Deal with all ward/customer liaisons in an effective and courteous manner at all times.
* Ensure that all cooking is to the highest standards.
