Birmingham City Football Club is on an exciting journey, and we are looking for a driven and strategic Senior Partnerships Manager – Activation to play a key role in our growth. This position will be responsible for developing and delivering a world-class partnership division, supporting the club’s transition to a new stadium and upward trajectory in English football. Purpose of the Role: You will oversee the activation and management of the club’s partnerships, ensuring that every sponsor’s needs are met and their expectations exceeded. Working closely with our commercial team, you will deliver innovative sponsorship activations, manage contract and budgetary elements, and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international brands. You will be part of a passionate team driving commercial growth while aligning with the club’s long-term strategic vision. Key Responsibilities: Partnership Strategy and Development: Work with the Head of Commercial and Senior Partnerships Manager (Sales) to define and execute a 5-10 year partnership strategy that aligns with the club’s vision. Oversee the entire partnership services arm, from onboarding to rights management and renewals. Manage sponsorship agreements and drive the development of new partnerships. Negotiate and secure sponsorship deals, ensuring maximum value for the club. Develop integrated marketing campaigns and activation plans to enhance brand visibility. Team and Contract Management: Lead a team dedicated to delivering partner rights, contract management, budget oversight, and reporting. Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of end-of-season reports, rights trackers, and sponsorship evaluations. Partner Relationships and Activation: Cultivate strong relationships with sponsors to ensure their goals are met. Design and execute a series of partner events, enhancing brand engagement. Present and support activation concepts during sales pitches, providing insights that fuel the sales cycle. Marketing and Interdepartmental Relations: Work closely with marketing, brand, and media teams to push forward the business and partner agendas. Create case studies showcasing successful partnership activations. Finance Management: Oversee financial aspects, including budget management, contract negotiations, and reporting. What We’re Looking For: Essential Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sports management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial roles, ideally in the sports or entertainment industry. Proven track record of success in sponsorship sales and partnership development. Strong team management experience in fast-paced environments. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Strategic thinker with a problem-solving approach and the ability to drive results. Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management, and reporting. Desirable Skills: Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. A deep passion for football, with a strong understanding of fan culture and behaviour. Personal Requirements: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and matchdays. Smart appearance and professional manner. Adherence to confidentiality and data protection procedures. Full and clean UK driving licence. Terms of Appointment: 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required to meet the demands of the role. 20 days’ annual leave (increasing by 1 day each year to a maximum of 25 days after 5 years), plus 8 statutory bank holidays. 6-month probation period.
