What's the Job About?
The main purpose of the role is to manage a multi-talented team to execute a variety of proposals, FEEDs and Studies in the downstream energy sector.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Communication
o Maintain direct contact with Clients, Operations Representatives, Leadership and key stakeholders regarding engineering proposals, FEEDs and Studies status highlighting key challenges and action plans.
o Communication with proposals team, contractors and suppliers to deliver engineering department priorities.
o Co-ordination of discipline engineers, Contractors and Suppliers.
o Work alongside business development to fully develop engineering proposals for both internal and external customers.
2. People
o Ensure the team remains trained and competent to complete the works expected of them, meeting with them regularly on an individual and team basis and mentoring them through challenges.
o Line management of a team including setting targets, professional development, performance management and bi-annual appraisals.
3. Planning and Project Management
o Ensure the planning, governance and safe delivery of a portfolio of FEEDs and Studies based on company and department priorities.
o Ensure portfolio is accurate, resourced, realistic and aligned to company and department priorities.
o Ensure FEEDs and Studies are completed in accordance with BPA procedures to the client’s satisfaction.
o Ensure FEEDs and Studies are completed in accordance with National and BPA HSSEQ standards.
o Ensure team have a positive input into annual KPI’s as set by the company and the department.
o Accountable for the financial consequences of decisions and actions for the control of manpower and cost targets to safeguard profit, the control of client budgets and third-party costs for the allocated project portfolio.
o Ensure proposals are developed in line with Client expectations (quality and timescales).
4. Design
o Manage portfolio project risks, escalating to the Head of Engineering as appropriate.
o Apply professional engineering discipline, judgement and constructive thinking to the selection of design solutions.
o Ensure engineering designs completed by the team are in accordance with relevant company, client, national and international standards.
o Reinforce the importance of design reviews with project stakeholders to ensure a high standard of engineering integrity.
5. Procurement
o Review procurement / contract strategy ensuring value for money, appropriate contractor selection and appropriate management of project risk.
6. Business Development
o Maintain and develop existing and new client relationships to secure new project work.
o Identify new opportunities and develop proposals for Client review and approval.
o Develop, input, maintain and present to Clients the company’s annual engineering plan.
7. General
o Maintain good client relationships.
o Adapt to changing priorities presented by client requirements.
o Ensure good engineering practices are maintained.
o Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
o Operate to expected quality standards.
What You’ll Need:
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline (preferably engineering).
* Demonstrable expertise in leading, managing and building effective teams; however, no line management experience necessary.
* Technical self-sufficiency, with an understanding of other disciplines and depth and range of management experience of projects within the downstream energy sector.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in the downstream energy sector or equivalent.
* Computer literate in normal office software applications and specialist applications as necessary.
* Valid UK driving licence.

* Basic Salary: £55,000 - £65,000, depending on skills and experience.
