Role: Senior Procurement Officer
Location: South Ribble Borough Council
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours) / Permanent
Salary: £40,076 - £42,708 plus 6% car allowance
Closing Date: 3 January 2025
An opportunity has arisen to work in Chorley & South Ribble Borough Council procurement team for a Senior Procurement Officer. The team is focused on offering value for money outcomes, transforming the way our services are delivered and driving social value through our tender processes.
You will be providing timely specialist advice to both senior managers and stakeholders, including the requirements of contract procedure rules and all other procurement related legislative requirements including PCR 2015 and the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023.
The work required is varied and fast paced. You will work closely with your team members to deliver effective services and key objectives.
What you’ll be getting up to
* You’ll assist with the efficient and effective delivery of the procurement service, assisting with the development and implementation of new procedures and documentation across the Council.
* You’ll effectively develop and deliver cohesive procurement strategies, improve procurement planning, advise on route to market, execution in partnership with a range of key stakeholders, across a range of service areas and/or categories.
* You’ll help to ensure the achievement of each council’s corporate procurement objectives including the delivery of social value, so that contract-related considerations benefit the local community.
* Establishing best practice and innovative procurement practices and systems within each council across a range of designated service areas and/or categories, that reduce waste, maximise efficiency, achieve best value in procurement and enable delivery of savings efficiency.
* You’ll advise on the evaluation of tenders/bids, ensuring alignment of published tender criteria and robust documentation of the evaluation/moderation process, outcomes and contract award recommendations.
Who we’re looking for
* You’ll have a CIPS Diploma or be working towards this.
* You will have experience working in procurement, ideally within the public sector.
* Experience of implementing change in a procurement environment.
* Experience and knowledge of social value in the procurement process.
Other requirements
* This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
