About the role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated M365 and Azure Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual and have a strong background in Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services, with a proven track record of successful migrations and implementations and provide ongoing support to our 1st line team.
The M365 and Azure Cloud Engineer will be instrumental in designing, deploying and optimising Azure Cloud solutions.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and manage Microsoft 365 (M365) and Azure cloud environments.
2. Set up and configure our M365 tenant, including managing the migration to M365 services and confident to perform migrations from Google Workspace to M365.
3. Perform tenant configuration and complete active user, share and device configuration on the Microsoft 365 platform, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Endpoint Device Manager (Intune).
4. Ability to provision, configure, operate and troubleshoot Microsoft Azure servers and virtual infrastructure.
5. Install, configure, operate and troubleshoot an antivirus product, preferably, Microsoft Defender.
6. Migrate on-premise servers to Azure or other cloud/hybrid platforms and monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
7. Install, configure, operate and troubleshoot Windows Server Operating Systems.
8. Troubleshoot Hypervisors, e.g. Microsoft Hyper-V, and familiarity with virtualisation concepts.
9. Manage the successful delivery of Azure Virtual Desktop proof of concept and potential solution across the college.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide cloud-based solutions.
11. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to M365 and Azure environments.
12. Using PowerShell or other scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks.
13. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in cloud computing.
14. Plus, many more ad hoc technical and business activities required in support of the team’s work.
Required Experience and Skills:
1. Minimum of 2 years of experience with M365 and Azure.
2. Proven experience in setting up M365 tenants and migrating to M365 services.
3. Experience with Google Workspace to M365 migration is a significant advantage.
4. Experience in migrating on-premise servers to Azure or other cloud services.
5. Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange, OneDrive for Business, Teams, SharePoint, Power Platform, Microsoft 365 Admin Centre and Azure Services.
6. Working knowledge of enterprise mobility & security - Intune MDM & MAM, Entra ID, Identity, Information Protection, Threat Protection, Cloud App Security.
7. Microsoft Teams voice and video services.
8. Knowledge of Microsoft licensing and experience of managing Microsoft licensing and Azure subscriptions.
9. Experience of using PowerShell.
10. Experience in translating business requirements into tangible technical milestones.
11. Strong experience leading implementation projects of Microsoft 365 workloads and new features.
12. Experience in creating Power Automate flows to automate repetitive tasks.
13. Be proactive with the changes in the Microsoft ecosphere and ensure that we are working towards the cutting edge of the technology stack.
14. Strong ability to produce and maintain technical documentation.
15. Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
16. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
17. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
18. Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, able to influence and drive collaboration leading by example.
19. Well organised with attention to detail whilst self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative.
20. Flexibility to travel between the sites where necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with additional cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
2. Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
3. Knowledge of networking and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
