Our Area Operations team has an opportunity for a Trainee Fitter to join our team in Stockport.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced electrical/mechanical maintenance technician/fitter to inspect and maintain the electrical/mechanical network in and around substation sites owned and maintained by a distribution network operator.
Principal accountabilities
* Removing and replacing large heavy plant as part of a team
* Liaising with various departments to complete site attendance to help maintain essential services
* Checking and calibrating plant and equipment to make sure they are in full working order
* Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
* Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
* Keeping the inspection & maintenance manager informed of progress
* As a technician, you’ll service and repair the equipment and be able to work on hydraulic, pneumatic or computerised systems.
* Fitting new parts as required
* Carrying out quality inspections and completing comprehensive reports
* Organising routine servicing schedules
Who We are looking for
We are looking for a Trainee Fitter with experience working in a similar industry for a distribution network operator and knowledge of electrical distribution systems. You will also require:
* Completed a time served apprenticeship scheme within an electrical/mechanical competence
* City & Guilds levels 2 & 3 in electrical/mechanical engineering or BTEC in electrical/mechanical engineering
* Experienced in test, inspection & maintenance programmes and completion of detailed reports
* Hold a valid, full UK driving licence (essential) with categories B +E (desirable)
* Practical experience working within a substation environment
* Proven experience in working outside in all weather conditions
