Applications are invited for the post of Senior Specialist Clinical Fellows (Senior Registrar) in the department of Gynaecology Oncology at Guys and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Most of our fellows progress to consultant positions within the UK and abroad.
Main duties of the job
Our Maternity Unit delivers around 6600 women per year, with a mixture of general and specialist pathways being delivered antenatally and postnatally. We provide a comprehensive Gynaecology service, containing a dedicated Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology Unit, a standalone Gynaecology Outpatient environment, and elective operating at St Thomas' and Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup.
As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post will be as a full-time 12-month placement as ST6/7 SpR in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at GSTT NHS Foundation Trust, primarily working within the Department of Gynaecological Oncology. The post-holder will get an excellent opportunity to improve their surgical skills in Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology. They will gain experience in managing Gynaecological cancer patients by participating in multidisciplinary meetings and managing Oncology patients on the ward and in outpatients. The rota for this post is designed such that there is maximum time spent training with the Gynaecological Oncology team.
You will be First on call (with an ST1-2 and an ST3-5) for obstetrics and the first on-call for gynaecology, with consultant at home as part of the trainee rota which is EWTD compliant and has protected time for training. To apply you must have MRCOG Part 3 plus at least 36 months experience as a Registrar (ST3-5) in a recognised RCOG unit. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC.
