The role
Graduate - Travel and Finance will be commencing in September 2025, the CAA’s specialist (and unique) Graduate Programme in aviation & travel finance within our Consumers and Markets Division.
At the CAA we offer a 3-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various placements within our Consumer Markets Group, designed to nurture and develop your skills, knowledge and leadership potential within aviation and travel finance, the dynamics of the sector and its regulatory environment.
Throughout the programme Graduates will complete placements across the breadth of our functions within the CAA, which will include:
1. Developing strong knowledge, skills and experience in the financial assessment and licensing of airlines and tour operators, additionally being coached, and guided in handling complex corporate finance issues from a regulatory perspective.
2. Obtaining strong knowledge, skills and experience in the economic regulation of airports (specifically Heathrow and Gatwick) and providers of air traffic control services. This could include looking at regulated companies costs and revenues, or measures of service quality, as well as supporting on the development of financial models.
The programme will enable you to develop:
1. A solid understanding of corporate finance issues faced by aviation companies.
2. The ability to assess and challenge the business plans and financial profiles of aviation companies.
3. The ability to support and manage the licensing process of a portfolio of airlines and tour operators.
4. The ability to gain deeper insights by using data analytics.
5. The process of managing external stakeholders often of a Senior Level and upholding the CAA’s values.
6. A knowledge of the regulatory environment in the aviation sector.

Post programme
Upon successful completion of the programme, and obtaining your professional qualification your choices are:
1. A Finance Specialist, specialising in ATF (Aviation & Travel Finance) managing the financial supervision of a portfolio of airlines and tour operators.
2. An Economist, specialising in ERCP (Economic Regulation & Competition Policy) focusing on ensuring airports and air traffic service providers do not exploit their market position.
About you
It is likely you will be a graduate with a First-Class Honours Degree or Upper Second-Class Honours Degree, ideally in a subject such as Economics, Econometrics, Accounting or Finance or any other subjects with a quantitative orientation.
We are looking for numerically minded individuals, analytical thinkers and first-class communicators who have the desire and drive to kick start their career at the CAA.
Previous experience working within aviation is not essential, but we are seeking individuals with a keen interest in aviation and finance. The ability to go the extra mile is key to the success in building strong relationships across the organisation.
